What is NYPO: NYPO is the acronym for Newham Young People Online, which is a network for young people in Newham who are interested in self development, skills development and community development. This website and the conversations you will find here support that network. Join the conversations by going to the NYPO Forum..
Team Building Residential: NYPO members went away to Stubbers Adventure Centre over the weekend of 24th to 26th April. The regular members were joined by a group of girls from the New Canteen project. The weekend consisted of adventurous activities and discussions both of which were aimed at building the team. The adventurous activities included, tunnelling, high ropes, climbing and all-terrain boarding.
War and Terror: On Saturday 7th March NYPO members met with other young people and adults to discuss the war in Palestine/Israel and more generally the issue of terrorism. The meeting was held at the Garden Cafe in Canning Town and was the first of a series of monthly conversations that will take place as a live event and continue online, for a month, on the NYPO Forum. Information and support for young people on all aspects of health can be found at the WELLBEING Suite in East Ham. More
Belonging During Summer 2008, twelve young people, several of them NYPO members, took part in a workshop to make films around the theme of 'Belonging'. The week long workshop was organised and run by the Manifesta and Runnymede Trust organisations and was part of a wider project involving young people from three European countries, the UK, France and Portugal. In December six of the young people travelled to Paris to meet with their French and Portugese counterparts.
We are really pleased to present the films from the Newham workshop on the NYPO site. Films from all three workshops, and a lot of other interesting material, can be seen on the Runnymede Trust website.
